Hearing Better Just Got a Whole Lot More Exciting

Newest Hearing Aids Are Rechargeable with Built-in Tinnitus Relief Sounds and Internet Connectivity

Some of the most dramatic innovations in medical technology can be found where some people might least expect to find it – hearing aids.  The newest hearing aids not only open a world of sound for more people with hearing loss, they bring additional benefits, like rechargeable convenience, built-in tinnitus relief sounds and the ability to connect to the Internet.

“Opn provides advantages that even the most sophisticated hearing solutions of today can’t deliver – the ability to manage listening to multiple speakers in noisy environments, like restaurants or social gatherings,” reports Dr. Taylor, clinical audiologist at TLC. “With Opn, you can enjoy 30% better speech understanding, reduce your listening effort by 20%, and remember 20% more of your conversations*.”

Opn is also a practical and welcome solution if you want the convenience of rechargeable batteries.  With the easy-to-use charger, Opn can be powered throughout the day by simply placing the hearing aids in the charger overnight. Bothered by tinnitus? Built-in Tinnitus SoundSupport™ lets you benefit from a range of customizable relief sounds.

As the world’s first Internet-connected hearing device, Opn offers an array of wireless possibilities. Opn connects directly to iPhone®, allowing you to hear your phone as well as stream music. The optional TV Adapter turns your hearing aids into a pair of wireless headphones for TV listening at your own preferred volume.

What is a Hearing Aid?

A hearing aid is designed to amplify sounds in the environment. With the introduction of digital hearing aids, the aid can be programmed using computer software to amplify certain types of sounds the patient is missing. Though a hearing aid does not restore normal hearing, it can drastically improve listening abilities, even in the presence of background noise. Hearing aids come in different styles, colors, and levels of technology in order to best fit the lifestyle and listening needs of the patient. Aids can feature volume controls and multiple programs to further assist in difficult listening environments.

Our patients LOVE rechargeable hearing aids!

It is estimated that approximately 1.4 billion hearing aid batteries end up in landfills every year! Rechargeable hearing aids eliminate the need for disposable batteries. Not only are rechargeable hearing aids great for the environment, they are also great for individuals with dexterity issues who find it difficult to change batteries as well as for people on the move who want uninterrupted hearing aid use throughout the day.

Hearing Aid Styles

Behind-the-Ear hearing aids (BTE)

BTE hearing aids are designed to fit any type of hearing loss and are discrete and comfortable. The components of the hearing aid are contained in the casing, which sits behind the ear. The sound is delivered to the ear canal through the speaker, or wire, which is held in the ear canal by a silicon dome or a custom ear mold.

Custom In-the-Ear hearing aids (ITE)

ITE hearing aids are small and discrete with all of the components fitting within the ear canal and the outer ear bowl, which is called the concha. ITEs are suitable for mild to moderately-severe hearing loss. This type of hearing aid requires a custom impression of the ear, which is made in the office.
